PoET
Proof of Effort for Text (PoET)
Proof of Effort for Text brings the PoE behavioral recording system directly into the word processor. Writers do not need to change how they work. PoET runs in the background from the moment a document is opened, recording the behavioral patterns of the writing session automatically. When the writer is ready, a single click sends that data for analysis and returns a full Proof of Effort score. An internet connection is required for scoring.
Built for LibreOffice Writer
PoET is currently available as a native extension for LibreOffice Writer on both Windows and macOS, and works with the latest LibreOffice versions. Both clients deliver the same core experience from a toolbar that sits inside the writer's existing workspace. There is nothing extra to learn and no separate application to manage. The extension installs in minutes and integrates seamlessly into the writer's daily workflow.
What PoET Does
Scoring is the centerpiece of the PoET experience. With one click, recorded session data is sent for analysis and a detailed breakdown of the writing session is returned, covering overall effort, content accountability, cognitive engagement, editing activity, and content authenticity by document section. Beyond scoring, PoET can generate a sealed artifact file that serves as a permanent, verifiable record of how a document was written. That artifact can be shared with editors, instructors, or institutions as proof of authorship and effort. For writers who need to share a clean copy of their document without any recorded data attached, PoET includes a Strip function that permanently removes all session data from the file after two confirmation steps. Additional tools in the toolbar cover artifact import, artifact verification, and session merging for documents worked on across multiple copies.
One Tool, Two Platforms
The Windows and macOS clients are built to behave identically from the user's point of view. A document started on one platform can be scored on either. Artifacts generated on Windows can be verified on macOS and the other way around. For teams and institutions working across mixed environments, PoET treats platform differences as an infrastructure detail, not a workflow problem.
Designed to Extend
PoET is not limited to LibreOffice. Future implementations will be designed to work with other popular word processors on the market. The Proof of Effort system is built with expansion in mind, so that writers across different platforms and workflows can access the same standard of behavioral attestation. For institutions or developers looking to integrate Proof of Effort into their own writing environments, the path is straightforward.
